Triple J part 2!

So, I promised you my song choices and explanations that I gave to the Australian public: Here they are for you!

Bring Me The Horizon: Shadow Moses
This song is the most special to me. When I first met Mr Amazing (my boyfriend), I found out he was in a 'post-hardcore progressive band' (aka metal for everyone else out there who doesn't know!) and I was definitely impressed by his guitar skills. Then, on a fluke incident of listening to the radio at work, I heard this song. Writing it down on my hand, I couldn't get over the awesome sounds of the clean (non-screaming singing) and I was an instant fan. Then, talking to him later, he recommended this band, saying it was one of his favourites. Today, we drive around together listening to BMTH and a few other bands too, getting excited over the hidden tracks within this song. If you listen to it, you can find falsetto, random off beats, guitar slaps, and other hidden noises that make this song incredible. Enjoy!

This song got me through my recent exams. I work many random hours, starting at 5 am or finishing at 9:30 pm, so I can't always have a solid study schedule. I needed something chilled and quiet to get me into the mood for study, but something that I would get excited listening to, to encourage me to get to work! This song was perfect - it's slow and chilled, so it helped me to concentrate and settle; but its catchy rhythms and sound had me singing along the whole time (:

Jackie Onassis: Smoke Trails
This last song is something that I adore. I love the Australian hip-hop scene, it was my opening into alternative (not Pit-bull) style music, and I've never looked back. This song embraces the old school hip-hop sounds of Illy and Horrorshow, while giving promises of awesome stuff to come. I love it because they don't swear or shout down the mike to get our attention, it's all there in the beats, the lyrics and the music. I especially love the part "we got pulled over, and we're all trying to act sober, coz there's future lawyers in the car" - my law-studying friends are the hardest partiers I know, and it is so easy to relate to!

I hope you liked my reasons, if not the actual songs! I hope your weeks have gone well too - and happy 4th to all my American friends! I've been loving all the red, white and blue shining all over the internet lately (:

Salut!

Bring Me The Horizon : Shadow Moses

Jackie Onassis : Smoke Trails

Triple J and me!

I love Triple J. For those of you who haven't caught on to one of the best radio stations out there, Triple J is THE radio station to go to for new, Australian and generally incredible music. It's not all new, not all Aussie and not all incredible (there was a song about a mosquito that I heard before :/ ) but in general, it's amazing. I have a really wide taste in music, from metal to classical, dubstep and pop, so a station that plays all kinds within 30 minutes is perfect!
There's something the public can do to get involved, called being a 'Guest Selector' - choosing our three favourite new songs to present to the public and quickly discussing them and introducing them. I signed up, not really expecting to be chosen, but I gave it a shot.
And I was chosen!
I had my 'recording' today over the phone, as I sat in my bed, rubbing my eyes, having just woken up and not wanting to sound disorganized.
I listened as she promised me that it's ok to mess up the recordings, that not many people ever get it right the first go. I sat up, concentrated, talked...
And got it perfect!
Recording three song introductions, I had to be recorded three times, so after jinxing myself I messed up a little the second time; but the third recording was, again, perfect! Lucky me!
She finished the call with thanking me, asking me to "please give this another go" as she'll be looking out for my name, and telling me I have a talent for talking and that I could go far! I'll definitely take that as a compliment!
So listen out on Tuesday night, 6-9pm next week on Good Nights with Linda for my song introductions, and in case you miss it, I'll explain my songs and reasons next week!

J’adore Triple J !

Exams...

I'm the smart one who decides mid-uni peak-points are the best times to do everything. Move out? What better time than a week before mid-semester exams? Make a blog? Exams in a week? Perfect!

So, I'm sorry for all the inactivity. But, I do have several things coming up, so I'm very excited about them (:

My exams went well, hectic and stressful but well, and life continues!

But, to prove to you I actually was busy, here are a few pictures of my study and the efforts that I went to to pass! (which aren't very well conveyed by photos, but I hope you get it anyway (: )
